SHAPE COLOR FEELING: Location: Tahitii on the beautiful island of Tetiaroa. Inspiration: An enormous butterfly with the most brilliant colors imaginable, attracted by the smell of the coconut oil  product  I was using,  landed on my hand. Question to self: How to reproduce that effect in a hairstyle. Result  My hairstyle for this  German Elle shoot.

SHAPE COLR FEELING

For a Neiman Marcus advertising campaign in New York, I had been asked to make “big” hairstyles using only the model’s hair. It was towards the end of the shoot and the clients wanted one last look. A bouquet of roses that were being delivered to a team member was my inspiration the rosebud inspired shape and volume was perfect for the story.

SHAPE COLOR FEELING: Sculptura

At the summit of Sainte-Baume ("Holy Cave"), in Provence, France, I discovered a statue of Mary Magdalene in a grotto dedicated to her, it was illuminated by a few candles. The sculpted hair - volume, lines, curves and waves - immediately attracted my attention.

I start by making the base, separation by separation. I create the ripples with a curling iron and allow them to relax one upon the other giving the feeling of being suspended. Working like this, I discover again, the character of pure grace the artist had fixed in marble that had so moved me.
